Sensei Roger Wang

President’s Message

Dear esteemed Affiliates of the Asia Pacific Shitoryu Karate Federation (APSKF), all members

As the newly appointed President, I am sincerely grateful for the endorsement of the World Shitoryu Karate-do Federation and your support during this pivotal moment.

APSKF boasts a rich legacy, and your unwavering loyalty reflects the strength and unity within our karate community. I thank my predecessor, Sensei Iwan Setiawan, for steering us through the difficult pandemic period while keeping the flag of Shitoryu Karate flying high. Going forward, I am honored to lead this federation into a new chapter.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so fostering camaraderie, cooperation and mutual support among Affiliates remains paramount. We must continue to stay connected through in-person meets as well as virtual gatherings, thus consolidating a regular platform for discussion and collective decision-making.

For a start, I extend an invitation to all Affiliates to submit or update their group profile on the APSKF website. Kindly provide the address of your dojo, and feel free to share relevant content such as event notices, feature articles, or any other information you wish to highlight. Let us strengthen our online presence, showcase our unity in diversity, and at the same time create a trove of updated and assessible resources for the entire APSKF community.

Exciting Announcements:

I am thrilled to announce the upcoming 16th Asia Pacific Shitoryu Karatedo Championships, scheduled to be held in Singapore from 27th November to 2nd December 2024. It promises to be a celebration of our shared passion and dedication to Shitoryu Karate, bringing together practitioners from across the Asia Pacific. Pen it in your calendar now – event details will come your way via our March bulletin.

Furthermore, 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the Shitoryu Karate Association (Shitokia of Singapore). I eagerly anticipate seeing each one of you in Singapore, not only for the competition but also to join in the festivities!

So stay tight and connected, in order to elevate the recognition and appreciation of Shitoryu Karate on the Asian as well as the world stage. By drawing on each other’s wealth of expertise, and stimulating the cross-pollination of ideas, let’s look to expand APSKF’s footprint in the region and beyond, and value-add to the APSKF membership.

Once again, thank you for your support and trust. I am excited about the journey that lies ahead.

Roger Wang
President, Asia Pacific Shitoryu Karate Federation
